Topical hears complaints about slow mail service, but like so many things, any slowness is another result of the COVID-19 pandemic. There aren’t so many planes flying across the nation nowadays. Australia Post relies on domestic flights to help carry over 100 tonnes of mail each day. Now, most of those planes are grounded. But whatever the delays, we are still ahead of Zambia. A reader tells Topical it is not unusual for letters to and from Zambia to take about six months to reach an overseas destination. “We look for last year’s Christmas cards in time for the coming Christmas,” she said.
