Kogil Street pre-schoolers have even more play and learning opportunities thanks to a contribution of funds from Narrabri Shire Council.
The pre-school was the recent recipient of a community grant from the council. Kogil Street Pre-school matched the $5000 council grant.
Mayor Ron Campbell was invited along to the pre-school to accept the schools thanks on behalf of the council.
“The grant is part of the commitment council has to support the local community and encourage and enable community participation in cultural, sporting, educational and community service activities,” said director Heidi Harper.
“The funds have been used to completely overhaul our toys and equipment and inject new life into the educational environment as well as install a new sandpit cover that is housed inside a bench seat and attached to a roller system for ease of use,” said Ms Harper.
“We are so grateful to have a council which is so committed to supporting community organisations like ours.
“This grant was in the 2019-20 round and again we have been successful in the 2020/2021 round with council committing $4000 to the upkeep of our building.
“The building is community owned, therefore the support we receive is instrumental in helping with upkeep of this great community resource.
“The support we receive from council doesn’t stop there. “Again this year we have been awarded a donation in the form of our general rates and annual charges.
“It is support like this that helps to ensure that our not-for-profit centre maintains the quality of care environment which allows us to enhance the children’s learning and development.
“Council’s Amanda Wales has been instrumental in helping us to secure grants through council and other sources as she continually emails grant opportunities to community organisations,” said Ms Harper.
“Her support, knowledge and encouragement are very much appreciated. The collaboration with council allows us to ensure the longevity of a quality educational service.”
