Former Member for the old Federal seat of Gwydir and Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson AO has announced he will put his name forward for preselection to be the National Party’s NSW Senate candidate at the next federal election. Since leaving politics, the 64-year-old Gunnedah farmer and grazier has maintained a public profile as a columnist and television and podcast ‘Conversations with John Anderson’ commentator. Mr Anderson is a popular and respected figure. Mr Anderson has acted, he said, because of his concern for the nation’s future and wants to have a role as an adviser and mentor to the party’s leadership.
