It’s understandable that the sporting world is making much of Phil Mickelson’s triumph in winning the PGA Championship. It is, after all, his sixth championship win. But Mickelson is just a month shy of 51 years of age! His achievement suggests that determination and experience counts for a lot as we grow older. But the victory has also done much to re-energise those hackers aged 60 or 70 who still happily slog around the world’s golf courses.
