A special presentation was held at Rowena Public School recently with Wee Waa business Growth Agriculture donating a cheque for $4080 to the school’s P and C association.
“It’s great to give back to the people and communities who support us,” said Growth Ag’s Martin Murray.
Rowena’s new principal Jo Glazebrook said the donation was greatly appreciated and would go towards updating and maintaining technology.
“It’s great to have the P and C raising funds and creating a buffer so we can maintain the site and provide up-to-date software that’s been tried and tested in educational circles,” said Mrs Glazebrook.
“It gives us options and choices to ensure we are creating the best educational opportunities for the students.”
The generous donation is part of Growth Ag’s Scholar Dollars program that has been running for a number of years and it contributes to the education of local students through a school bonus scheme.
Under the scheme, customers including farmers and agricultural workers who purchase goods from the business can nominate a school that they would like to see receive a bonus amount.
The money can be used to purchase educational resources, books and sporting equipment.
Mr Murray thanked the Rowena farming families for their ongoing support of local business, Australian manufacturing and rural industry.
Members of the Rowena school community including P and C representatives, teachers and students attended the cheque presentation and gave Mr Murray a big round of applause when he presented the cheque to the school captains.
