Actor Michael Caton, star of the iconic Australian movie ‘The Castle’, visited Narrabri on Saturday.

Mr Caton and a crew from the multi- award-winning ABC television documentary series ‘Australian Story’ were in town to include Narrabri in a coming episode featuring Mr Caton.

He was welcomed to Narrabri by the mayor Ron Campbell who took the opportunity to highlight the prospects for Narrabri on the back of agriculture, energy and industrial developments.

Michael Caton has been an active supporter of the anti-coal seam gas movement for years.

Michael Caton is one of Australia’s most accomplished actors with a career spanning television, theatre and movies dating back to his role as a young man in ‘Skippy the Bush Kangaroo’ in 1969.

For many, his most famous performance, in a huge portfolio of work, is his role as Darryl Kerrigan in the 1997 movie ‘The Castle’.

There are many fondly remembered, classic lines in The Castle – “This is going straight to the pool room,” “Tell him he’s dreaming”, “It’s the vibe” and “How’s the serenity?” were endlessly quoted after The Castle hit our screens.

The screening date of the Michael Caton Australian Story episode is yet to be announced.
