Chaos, apprehension, fear and hope were the hallmarks of the Queensland government’s decision to lockdown South East Queensland on Saturday, and postpone the round 20 games in the 2021 NRL preliminary competition.

Saturday’s games were immediately forbidden to go ahead on that day and concern was high that they would be cancelled altogether.

After some, what must have been intense, negotiations between chairman of the Australian NRL committee Peter V’landys and Annastacia Palaszczuk, her health team and the Queensland government, a compromise was reached.

Postponed games were rearranged to be played on Sunday and Monday.

The rescheduling has a huge impact on The Courier’s reporting of the round 20 results.

Due to early deadlines imposed by the need now to have the paper printed in Sydney on Monday evening, we could not update the scores in time for today’s paper.

Those results will be evident in Thursday’s Courier.

In the meantime, readers, you still have the opportunity to Beat the Biz.

Unfortunately Tracey Fing did not have more correct tips than Turner Signs in round 20, so the money jackpots to $150 to be spent at any of the participating businesses.

Good on you for having a go Tracey.
