An anti-mask organiser, in the US state of Texas, has died after contracting COVID-19, the New York Times reported at the weekend. The man was an active campaigner against mask mandates in the state. After three weeks in intensive care, treatment options were exhausted, the newspaper report read. In other COVID news from the New York Times, the third most circulated newspaper in the US, it was reported an unmasked, unvaccinated teacher infected half of her students with the highly contagious Delta variant of the virus. The newspaper reported that the school outbreak was likely to intensify debate over vaccine mandates in American schools.
