On Saturday December 11, Wee Waa High School’s class of 2021 was able to shake off the challenges of their final year, celebrate their achievements and propose a toast to new adventures.
Year 12 students invited family, friends, teachers, mentors, and former classmates to their formal evening, which held at the Wee Waa Bowling Club.
“After everything they’ve been through, and the year these students have had – it was a really wonderful night,” said Kathleen Coutts-Smith, who worked with WWHS’ P and C and to coordinate the event.
After months of COVID-19 restrictions, learning from home and the recent floods, it was a relief for the school community to receive the good news that the formal could go ahead, and the students could enjoy a much-needed night out with their nearest and dearest.
“Everyone pulled together to make sure the night could happen,” said Mrs Coutts-Smith.
“Connie Smith did an amazing job, catering 180 meals, Little House on Rose generously donated their garden for the formal photos.”
The committee did a beautiful job of decorating the venue, and a lot of the decorations were donated.
Mrs Coutts-Smith said students and their families fundraised throughout the year to book Penny Vella as the event’s official photographer to ensure they would all have ‘picture perfect’ photos to remember such a special night and magnificent milestone.
