Narrabri High School has commenced its roll-out of rapid antigen tests (RATs) in preparation for the new term which starts next week.

The high school will offer students tests in lots of four to enable a fortnight’s supply of rapid tests. For special education classes, students are eligible for 10 tests per fortnight – one for each school day.

RATs will be available to collect from the school at the front gates today and tomorrow, February 3 and 4, from 12pm to 4pm. Tests will also be available to collect at the Maitland Street community kiosk on Saturday from 9am to 11am.

If these times do not suit, parents and caregivers are asked to call the school on Friday.

Narrabri High School deputy principal Rozina Broderick has thanked staff for their work in organising the distribution of tests while still on holidays.

“The office staff have been wonderful,” she said.

“We’re particularly grateful to them for coming in during the holidays.”

Ms Broderick advised that tests can only be collected by parents and caregivers.

While RAT testing for students is not compulsory, it is strongly recommended by the NSW Department of Education as one of its measures in limiting COVID exposure at schools across the state.

The department highly recommends all students undertake a RAT and confirm a negative result before attending the first day of school on February 8 (years 7, 11 and 12) and February 9 (years 8, 9 and 10).
