Beer lovers will be anxious following a government tax rise on the nation’s favourite alcoholic beverage. From the start of the month, the ATO has increased the excise duty rate per litre of alcohol by a factor of 1.021 to keep up with inflation. There are renewed calls across the hospitality and beverage industry for the government to provide a reprieve.
