Could I take this opportunity to publicly thank all the wonderful, dedicated staff at Whiddon Robert Young?
Everyone I have met who works there, in all sections of the home – kitchen staff, cleaning, maintenance, nursing, office staff, have been exceptional.
My Father, Norm Chapman, has been in their care for about seven months and had only recently been diagnosed with cancer.
The dedication, care and respect they have shown to my father was like that of their own family member. It is very heart-warming to see such commitment. They really do care about the work they do, and the people they deal with.
It is not an easy job, and they not only deserve a medal, but they also deserve pay rises.
There has been a bit in the news lately about Aged Care Homes, and I would be happy to advocate to anyone who would listen about how deserving aged care workers are, especially the ones in Narrabri! Politicians, media, unions, and the various associations all need to know what a valuable job they do for the community.
If COVID has taught us anything positive – it is to show us which professions are essential and should be supported.
I would also like to pay tribute to the Community care nurses who go and visit the sick, frail and elderly in their own homes. We couldn’t do without you.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Helen Dugdale and family, Narrabri
