Public Anzac Day commemoration services made a welcome return to Narrabri Shire on Monday.
The traditional community gatherings, curtailed for the previous two years by COVID, drew a huge attendance to Narrabri War Memorial and to dawn and mid-morning services in centres across the shire.
“This is one of the biggest attendances for years,” said a delighted Narrabri RSL Sub-branch president Gary Mason OAM who led the ceremony.
Blue skies and perfect weather set the scene for the day.
Organisers were again pleased with the depth of community engagement – schools were strongly represented and marched alongside service veterans and community groups to the Narrabri War Memorial.
Official guest, Royal Australian Navy Captain Rodney Horsburgh and other speakers gave eloquent and thoughtful addresses which drew praise from the ceremony audience.
More to come.
