Thumbs up to everything about our community Anzac Day commemorations, as has been observed by a writer to Tuesday’s Thumbs column. I completely agree – the organisation and volunteering and participation was fantastic. But at the risk of being called a whinger can I offer a constructive suggestion? It is just great to see the school students march, and so many, but can our schools re-introduce some kind of marching practice? It would be good to see the kids marching in step. We were taught that when I was at school – we assembled and marched in step to classes and it is not hard to achieve and makes such a difference. And I really think the student marchers would enjoy doing it in front of proud parents and friends. Just a thought.
