In 2020, COVID halted the running of the NSW variety bash, however, 104 cars participated in 2021 and this year 102 vehicles are entered.

Tracey Rex and Stuart Black are looking forward to joining this year’s event in their ZB Ford Fairlane.

The Variety Bash supports Variety the children’s charity in NSW/ACT, helping kids, from all backgrounds, who are sick, disadvantaged or living with special needs to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

The Variety NSW Bash is a week-long adventure with participants travelling in themed vehicles, which are at least 30 years old, on dirt roads exploring the country, calling in at schools along the way and donating much-needed items and equipment.

This year’s Bash commences on Sunday, May 15 and finishes on Saturday, May 21.

The Bash starts in Newcastle, with vehicles travelling to Dubbo via Spring Ridge, then onto Quambone, Cobar, Condobolin, Forbes, Wagga Wagga, Wyangala, Bathurst, Wattle Flat, through the Hunter Valley back to Newcastle.

This year’s Variety Bash in Newcastle marks its 30th anniversary.

Tracey Rex has been involved for 19 of these years and Stuart for the last eight years.

The couple is dedicated to the cause putting huge efforts into fundraising and over those years they have raised more than $150,000 in total.

This year’s undertaking has surpassed the $12,000 mark with Tracey praising the people of Narrabri for their generosity and support.

“That’s a lot of cakes,” said Tracey, “but it’s all for a good cause”.

Tracey and Stuart are looking forward to joining the Bash, hitting the open road and making a difference in the lives of children who are in need.
