The local market was surprised by the 0.5 per cent rate hike from the RBA yesterday and ended lower for the day. After trading a little higher the market is again under pressure after lunch today.
On the four-hour chart we managed to sell short some ASX 200 cfd’s before the RBA announcement and closed out half of that position at the end of the day. Our profit target is around the 7,000 level for the remainder and our stop is in place.
We also added some of the BBOZ ETF to the educational portfolio for a longer-term play of the downside.
Magellan closed below our stop and we sold. We also sold out of the NDQ position along with Endeavour, Xero, Syrah and half of Brainchip parcel to tidy up the portfolio and add a bit more cash for future possibilities.
Whitehaven Coal could run into some resistance around previous tops.
South 32 is only one of a few stocks showing some strength at the moment.
All of the banks including the CBA have come under pressure after the interest rate decision as investors switch their focus to the possibility of bad loans increasing.
Santos finally broke above resistance and we bought a parcel today.
