Community organisations have been reminded they are welcome to apply for funding through the Narrabri Shire Council’s community grants scheme.

Seven local organisations were recipients of a total of $13,000 in the last round of funding support at a special presentation event at the council chambers on Thursday.

The groups will match the grants with their own funds and ‘in kind’ contributions.

The seven successful grant applicants on Thursday were the Killarney Classic Committee, Narrabri and District Chamber of Commerce, Narrabri Meals on Wheels, Narrabri Polocrosse Club, Wee Waa and District Pony Club, Wee Waa Public School P and C and the Eulah Creek Recreation Reserve.

Mayor Ron Campbell presented grant certificates to each organisation.

“The grants are a humble recognition by the shire of the community organisations, what they contribute and what they represent,” he said.

“I encourage other groups in the shire to get on board and apply for funding which meets the criteria for grant support.”

The Killarney Classic Committee has been given funds to run the annual charity community bike ride and assist local cancer support services.

Narrabri Polocrosse Club has been funded to prepare grounds for competition and July carnival

Eulah Creek Recreation Reserve will use its grant to host the annual machinery day for the Beulah Park Hall fundraising.

Narrabri and District Chamber of Commerce will use its grant for the replacement of Narrabri Christmas tree decorations.

The Narrabri Meals on Wheels Christmas in July social event for clients, carers and volunteers will be supported by a grant.
