Narrabri Rugby Club started its super preliminary final Saturday in emphatic style with a thrilling victory sending the Blue Boars women to this weekend’s grand final in Gunnedah.

The women’s 10s match kicked off a day of finals action at Dangar Park in front of a strong showing of Blue Boars supporters.

The Gunnedah Red Devils hit the board at the first minute, however, it was to be one of few scoring opportunities for the visitors.

Toni Gale led the Blue Boars’ Saturday score-fest, opening with a try in the early minutes against the Red Devils.

A second try at the eighth minute saw Gale continue to chip away at the scoreboard.

The Blue Boars continued to hit the board, with a Martha Harvey try at the 22nd minute and another Gale try at the 24th minute followed by a Gale conversion.

The Red Devils attempted to return fire with a 28th-minute try, however, it wasn’t enough to slow the premiership aspirations of the Blue Boars women.

Gale would hit the board again with a try at the 36th minute and her second conversion at the 37th minute.

The Blue Boars women ended Saturday’s final with a 36-15 win over the Red Devils and will now face the Tamworth Pirates to battle for grand final glory this weekend.

While the Pirates walked away the victors in the three most recent clashes, the Blue Boars will be hoping to return to their May form when they defeated the Pirates emphatically, 50-21.
