River flows from the Peel River and its tributaries are expected to combine with the outflows from Keepit Dam and Mooki River flows to cause minor flooding along the Namoi River at Gunnedah and Boggabri over the weekend.

Due to heavy rainfall around the Mt Kaputar region, river levels along the Namoi River at Narrabri are expected to rise earlier than upstream locations and may reach the minor flood level Friday afternoon, the SES advised in a moderate flood bulletin issued on Friday morning.

Further downstream along the Namoi River, Wee Waa may reach the moderate flood level, and Bugilbone and Goangra may reach the minor flood level over the weekend.

Based on the predictions provided by the Bureau of Meteorology:

Gunnedah

• The Namoi River at Gunnedah may reach the minor flood level (7.30 m) Saturday evening.

• Low-lying areas along Kelvin, Bluevale, Wean and Orange Grove Roads may be affected by floodwater.

• Water starts to encroach on the Woolshed Reserve, the Donnelly Playing Fields and the western end of Maitland Street near Benevolent Park.

• Access from Maitland Street into Warrabungle Street is impeded.

• Low-lying areas along the Namoi River may become impacted by floodwater.

Boggabri

• The Namoi River at Boggabri may reach the minor flood level (7.00 m) Sunday morning.

• Barbers Lagoon Road, Manilla Road, Maules Creek Road and Bostons Street Bridge may all be affected by floodwater.

• Low-lying areas along the Namoi River may become impacted by floodwater.

Narrabri

• The Narrabri Creek at Narrabri may reach the minor flood level (4.90 m) Friday afternoon.

• At this height, water may enter low-lying areas of Cameron Park.

• Floodwater may also close the Violet Street Bridge.

• Low-lying areas along the Namoi River may become impacted by floodwater.

Wee Waa

• The Namoi River at Wee Waa (Glencoe) is expected to exceed the minor flood level  (5.30m) Saturday morning.

• The river level may reach the moderate flood level (6.40m) Saturday afternoon.

• At this height, Vera’s Creek and Garden Roads may be affected by floodwater.

• Low-lying areas along the Namoi River may become impacted by floodwater.

Bugilbone

• The Namoi River at Bugilbone may reach the minor flood level (4.90 m) Saturday afternoon.
