Major flooding is occurring along the Namoi River at Gunnedah, where river levels peaked early Sunday morning.

A flood peak further downstream on the Namoi River just passed through Wee Waa where major flooding is occurring.

Minor flooding is occurring along the Namoi River at Boggabri and Goangra. Minor flooding is likely at Narrabri from Monday morning. Moderate flooding may occur at Boggabri from Tuesday.

Namoi River:

Major flooding is occurring at Gunnedah and Wee Waa (Glencoe). Minor flooding is occurring at Boggabri and Goangra and likely at Narrabri. Moderate flooding may occur at Boggabri.

The Namoi River at Gunnedah peaked at 8.16 metres around 05:15 am Sunday, September 18 and is currently (at 4pm on Sunday) at 7.91 metres and falling, with major flooding.

The Namoi River at Boggabri may peak near 7.70 metres Monday morning, with minor flooding.

The Narrabri Creek at Narrabri is likely to exceed the minor flood level (4.90 metres) Monday morning. The river level may reach around 5.50 metres Tuesday morning, with minor flooding.

The Namoi River at Wee Waa (Glencoe) peaked at 6.86 metres around 09:30 am Sunday 18 September and is currently at 6.84 metres and falling, with major flooding.

The Namoi River at Bugilbone may reach 5.80 metres around Wednesday, with moderate flooding.

The Namoi River at Goangra may reach around 6.40 metres around Saturday, with minor flooding.

  • Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place.
  • Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
  • Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
  • Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous.
