World-class innovative, technological solutions are being delivered out of Narrabri and deployed across the world.
Wee Waa Road-based SierraTek, owned and operated by Narrabri locals Jamie and Annette Condon, was honoured as the Innovation in Business award winner at the recent chamber business awards.
SierraTek sees its SierraNet platform as the signature of its innovative offering.
The technology is used as a full control system that can be utilised through an app or computer and provides critical information and process control at the touch of a button.
Jamie sees the development of software, particularly relating to automation and efficiency, as playing an important role in the future growth of the business.
“We are growing in this space. It is a new area and something that requires specialist skills,” he said.
Prior to the arrival of COVID, SierraTek was driving innovation across different parts of the globe.
The pandemic provided an opportunity to hone in on the continued development of its software and hardware solutions for agribusiness and industry.
With the world back open for business, SierraTek has returned to taking its Narrabri-based expertise across international borders, recently working in Africa and just last week in India to foster support for the ginning industry in Australia.
Demand has increased, and the opportunities for global business are bigger and better than before.
While making the most of international opportunities, SierraTek is also playing a pivotal role in developments closer to home, including floodplain harvesting and non-urban water metering.
Government has drawn on SierraTek’s expertise in the water industry to develop the necessary rules and regulations.
“For a company like ours to get that opportunity is fantastic,” Jamie said.
The support SierraTek provides for meter installations has been a boost for business, Jamie said.
SierraTek is also part of the roll-out of 50 demonstration sites for floodplain harvesting in the north of the state, in the Gwydir and Border catchment areas.
In addition to its international work and advisory role with government, SierraTek is also proud of its role in ensuring parts, relating to ginning and the cotton industry generally, are available relatively quickly to Australian clients.
Historically, parts would be sourced from overseas resulting in waits of months.
