On Sunday, Whiddon Robert Young Nursing Home resident Donny Griffiths was delighted to get an unexpected visitor.
Donny is a staunch Manly supporter and was more than surprised when NRL star Jason Saab appeared at the doorway of his room.
Jason is a Manly Sea Eagles winger and was in Narrabri to take part in the new Bunnings Narrabri store opening celebrations.
Kylie Guest, Donny’s ‘buddy’ at Robert Young organised Jason’s visit to Donny.
“Jason was only too happy to make the visit and presented Donny with one of his guernseys he had worn last year and then signed it for him,” said Donny’s wife Joan Griffiths.
Jason then spent about an hour and a half with Donny, Joan, Donny’s daughter Lee and grandson Ryan.
“We are super impressed with Jason’s generosity, especially the time he spent with Donny. He is a genuine and really nice young man, and certainly a truly great ambassador for the Manly Sea Eagles,” they said.
“The family is so appreciative of the Whiddon Robert Young team for having the ‘Buddy’ system in place and sincerely thank Kylie Guest for her initiative in organising the surprise.”
