When Agies Ladies scored a 6-1 win in Narrabri Touch’s 2020/21 season A-grade grand final in March last year to secure their second consecutive premiership, they extended a superb winning streak to 42 games.

The unbeaten run stretched back to Monday, April 9 in 2018, when the side went down 2-0 to Redbacks in the 2017/18 campaign A-grade ladies’ grand final.

Agies Ladies then entered the 2022 season with a similar side to the one that won the grand final back in 2021, and got off to a flying start with a 6-2 win against Specialised Quarries and Concrete.

That victory extended the streak to 43.

Fast forward to round 10 earlier this month on Monday, October 3, and the side stretched the streak to 49 games when it demolished CBRE 14-2.

Round 11 was washed out a week later, which meant that Agies Ladies would go into round 12 on Monday with win number 50 in sight.

They managed to get the job done with a 13-0 win against Wilga Westies.

Bella Cruickshank scored four tries in that match and Teagan Conomos crossed for a hat-trick of tries.

Six other players, including Alisha Conomos, Cathy Conomos, Martha Harvey, Megan Crutcher, Matilda Currey and Alice Woodhill, all scored a try each.

While Agies Ladies’ win extended its overall win streak to 50 games, it also extended its 2022 season winning run to eight games.

The side has piled on 84 tries and conceded just 10 so far this season and is one win clear at the top of the table over SPA Redbacks.

The Redbacks have only lost once so far this season, back in the second round of the campaign against Agies Ladies.

Since then, the Redbacks have won all six of their games a combined 52-4.

Their latest win came in round 12 on Monday when they downed the sixth-placed side CBRE 9-0 to remain just one win behind the ladder leaders.

Fellow top-three side Specialised Quarries and Concrete also scored a big win in round 12. The third-placed team downed last-placed Touch’n’Go 13-0 to remain a win back from the Redbacks and two wins behind Agies Ladies.

The other ladies match saw Blue Birds climb the ladder from sixth into fifth with a 5-2 victory over seventh-placed side Hounddogs.

The win was Blue Birds’ second of the season.

In the men’s competition, the top-ranked team Grumley Builders scored a 12-5 win against Cougars to extend their 2022 campaign winning streak to eight matches.

They have won all eight games they have played this year a combined 56 tries to 20 and are two wins clear at the top of the table over second-placed Win Or Booze.

Win Or Booze played its seventh game of the season in round 12 on Monday and scored its sixth win when it downed sixth-placed side DTA Treated Lumberjacks 7-1.

One position and one point behind Win Or Booze on the men’s ladder are Lations, which played their eighth game of the year on Monday.

They beat the fifth-placed side Wilga Pelicans 9-4 in that match to overtake Gee Bangers on the ladder.

Gee Bangers entered round 12 in third place but had the bye, which saw them drop to fourth.

The other men’s match played on Monday was won by Ballbusters.

Ballbusters scored their first victory of the campaign when they beat the winless and lowest-ranked team NFC.

Both sides went into the round searching for their first win, and it was Ballbusters that got the job done as they outscored NFC 7-3.

Round 13 is scheduled to be played this Monday, October 24.
