Businesses, individuals and community organisations have been rallying behind local emergency services, which are working around the clock as a result of the flooding and heightened rivers and creeks in Narrabri Shire.

Emergency services and shire personnel have been meeting at the NSW State Emergency Service’s Reid Street headquarters in Narrabri.

Deliveries of hot food and supplies have buoyed the spirits of the emergency service crews working to keep the community safe.

Other support has come in the form of volunteer labour, with people coming in to assist with the filling of sandbags.

Local businesses have also supported the SES by providing team members for the filling of sandbags as well as tidying up the SES grounds and supplying sand.

“We would not have filled as many sandbags as we did without community support,” Narrabri SES Unit’s Sarah Rushton said.
