Support for flood-affected communities, including Narrabri Shire, has been expanded with additional assistance for primary producers.
Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said eligible primary producers in the shire were able to apply for recovery grants as part of the jointly funded federal and state government Disaster Recovery Funding arrangements.
“The assistance is available for the immediate clean-up and recovery costs to repair extensive damage to properties,” Mr Coulton said.
“Our farmers have been among the hardest hit by flooding this year, with recent floods destroying or downgrading millions of dollars’ worth of crops across the Parkes electorate just before harvest season.
“I know these grants will be very welcomed to help farmers get back on their feet after a challenging few months.”
Recovery grants of up to $25,000 are available to eligible primary producers.
Primary producers who are in urgent and genuine need of assistance, and directly affected by a declared natural disaster, may also be eligible for low-interest loans of up to $130,000.
A transport subsidy of up to $15,000 is also available to eligible farmers affected by the natural disaster.
This subsidy pays for the cost of transporting fodder and/or water to an affected property, stock to sale or slaughter, and stock to/from agistment. These measures are in addition to financial assistance also available to businesses, individuals and organisations.
