The late Peter Tapscott is being remembered as a respected business and community man.

Mr Tapscott, of Gibbons Street, died aged 89-years-old last Tuesday.

After spending his early life in Narrabri, Mr Tapscott returned to Narrabri from Burren Junction where he had conducted a stock and station agency to operate the Shell fuel depot.

He later acquired the Shell service station which is still a family run business. The Tapscotts also operated a well-known eatery and carvery alongside the petrol station. Mr Tapscott was always well-supported in his business endeavours by his late wife Peggy who died in June 2019.

Family was also of great importance. Mr Tapscott was a loving father to Sandy, Tim and Bill (deceased), and was a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his business pursuits, Mr Tapscott had the interests of the wider community at heart. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Narrabri for many years, including his tenure as president in 1989-90.
