Christmas carols will come early for Wee Waarians this year, with the combined churches event kicking off at 5.30pm this Sunday, December 4.

“Forget about all the frustrations of life over the last little while and reacquaint yourself with what Christmas is all about,” said one of the organisers, Peter Carrett.

“Friends and family from all around the Wee Waa district and Narrabri are invited.

“We have brought the carols service forward this year so students could take part and moved the venue from the hospital grounds into the beautiful gardens of Weeronga (Whiddon Wee Waa).

“This will allow all the residents to take part from the verandah and not exclude those confined to beds.

“Plus, the gardens are well shaded and look a picture, which the community rarely sees because of the privacy hedge.

“The Lions Club are going to do a barbecue beforehand.

“There will be face painting, snow cones, as well as the community band playing in the hour before the singing begins.”

“We’ll be playing all the Christmas songs people are familiar with,” Mr Carrett added.

“This year we will have a choir to lead the carols, students from our local schools will bring us the Christmas story, plus our Wee Waa Public School scripture teachers have some skits and other activities.”

“Can Mr Hunt top his huge book from last year?”.

Find out at the carols at 530pm this Sunday.

Entry will be via the side gate on River Street, and attendees are advised to please bring aeroguard, a chair, a hat, money for the stalls, and some festive cheer to the Weeronga (Whiddon) gardens.
