The Narrabri Shire Youth Council held its second election in October following its first-year term, which commenced in 2021 and finished in 2022.
Mackenzie Jones was elected Youth Council mayor, Tim Mirtschin as Youth Council deputy mayor, and Caitlyn Coutts-Smith the Youth Council secretary, concluding September 2023.

The Narrabri Shire Youth Council is an advisory and advocacy committee made up of young people aged 14 to 24 years old who live and work in the shire.
Comprised of ten members, the Youth Council work collaboratively with local organisations to provide advice to council on methods to enhance engagement with youth, identify gaps in service for youth and support various youth events in the Narrabri Shire.
Newly elected Youth Council mayor Mackenzie Jones says she is excited about what’s ahead in her new role.
“I hope to work closely with the other Youth Council members, community members and services to provide more opportunities for the youth of Narrabri Shire.
“I’d like to thank Elodie Labonte for her efforts so far and the amazing work of the rest of the Youth Council members.
“I’d also like to congratulate our new Youth deputy mayor, Tim Mirtschin and our Youth secretary, Caitlyn Coutts-Smith.”
