Two teenage boys will be dealt with under the young offenders act for allegedly damaging a power box in the Wee Waa town centre.

Between 5.15am and 6.20am on January 2, the boys – aged 15 and 14 – were observed in Wee Waa’s central business district on CCTV.

Police viewed the council CCTV footage.

The boys are alleged to have removed chains before damaging a power box which provides electricity for street lighting and the clock tower in Rose Street.

Damage was estimated at $2500.

Police have thanked members of the public who provided information in relation to the matter.

Teenager arrested for vehicle offences, possessing knife

A 12-year-old boy was arrested for several vehicle offences as well as possessing a knife.

The boy was observed by police driving a vehicle in Wee Waa on January 2.

Police activated warning lights in Boundary Street.

The vehicle turned right on to Maitland Street, Wee Waa, before accelerating at speed.

The boy abandoned the vehicle and was later found hiding in bushes in Alma Street.

He was charged with take or drive in conveyance, engaging in a police pursuit, never licensed drive vehicle and being in custody of a knife in a public place.

The boy was arrested and conveyed to Narrabri Police Station.

He was granted bail to appear in Wee Waa Children’s Court on March 2.

Drink driver stopped

A 26-year-old man was stopped on Maitland Street, Narrabri, on December 31 for the purpose of a breath test. Police stopped the man, a P-plate driver, at 1.35am.

He returned a reading of .099.

The man’s licence was suspended.

P-plate licence holders have a zero blood alcohol limit.
