Crews from the Narrabri RFS brigade were alerted to a grass fire at Kaputar Road on Tuesday afternoon.
Arriving at the fire, crews found an area of grass alight near a number of houses.
The spread of the fire was slowed by well mown grass, allowing the fire to be kept to only two-hectares in size. Crews were assisted by well-prepared landowners who used a tanker trailer and lawn mower to help control the fire.
The RFS said the incident is a great example of things landowners can do to reduce the risk of fire impacting them this season.
With warmer weather on the way, now is a great time to ensure your firefighting gear is operational and your property is well maintained.
