The role of online ‘influencers’ is extraordinary with some influencers having audiences of millions. Topical reads that the youngest influencer so far is a two week old baby! For many others it is a multi-million dollar business. One of the early generation influencers in the 1960s was Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. After he appeared on the popular US Ed Sullivan Show sales of Ludwig drums which he used exploded across the US. And who can forget the Beatles announcing Bacardi and Coke as their favourite drink? Bacardi sales went through the roof globally.
