Wee Waa Show Society is looking for a new show president, and the committee said the position needs to be filled if the community wants the popular event to go ahead in 2023.
The Wee Waa Show has a long and proud history, the inaugural Wee Waa Show was held in 1927 but the idea and movement to start a show in town began in 1913 – delayed due to the circumstances of war and depression.
The show weekend is a much-loved attraction that sees locals, families and visitors gather in the Cotton Capital to enjoy a range of activities and amusements for people of all ages.
From the Young Woman of the Year announcement to the hotly-contest baking competitions, baby show, cattle parade, dog trials, and a favourite with the children – the famous lolly drop from the sky.
The committee said the new president will have the support of former presidents as well as members in the lead up to the 2023 show.
The role of Wee Waa Show president is not only a fantastic way to serve the community but also offers the successful applicant many opportunities to network and make new connections, especially with other agricultural societies.
In its plea for community members to apply for the fulfilling voluntary position, Wee Waa Show Society referenced a quote on its social media pages by author Elizabeth Andrew, “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.”
