The Hunter New England Local Health District will start the search for a new chief executive following the resignation of Michael DiRienzo.
Mr DiRienzo will remain on leave until vacating the position on March 9.
Tracey McCosker PSM will continue to act as chief executive until a recruitment process has been completed.
Ms McCosker, the former chief executive of NSW Health Pathology, has worked in the state’s public health system for almost 30 years.
Hunter New England Local Health District released a brief statement following the resignation, confirming Mr DiRienzo’s departure and the interim measures in place until a permanent appointment is made.
“We wish to acknowledge and thank Michael for his years of contribution and achievement as chief executive of the district,” a spokesperson said.
