With the theme ‘Flight’ it will be interesting to see what the artists have conjured up in their minds!

This installation is part of the main exhibition at The Crossing Theatre but please note it will only be available to see from March 11 through to March 18.

Prepare yourself for a truly magical experience as you meander down the enchanted path to experience Love is All in the Flutterby Hall.

Watch your inner child come to life as you immerse your senses in the wonder of sound, light, flowers, and flight in a real-life Butterfly House.

You will be transported to a place of whimsy, wonder and delight as you learn about the magnificent butterflies that live in our neighbourhood.

Narrabri Art & Craft Society

Flights of Fancy – Narrabri Art & Craft Society welcomes you aboard!

Your flight will take you on a journey of imagination through an exhibition of art, traditional and contemporary craft, created by members and entered for the Betty Berriman Award.

The shop, gallery and workroom will be open on the weekend of March 18 and 19.

Fly Boomerang in Gamilaraay.

Join festival-goers behind the Yellow Door at the Wee Waa Community Arts and Cultural Centre for the centre’s first birthday celebration and opening night of the exhibition “Barran Barra-y” Fly Boomerang.

Treat yourself to an evening of wonderful Wee Waa hospitality in the gallery surrounded by local and interstate artworks and sculptures created just for this event with the CREATE 2023 theme ‘Flight’ as their inspiration.

There’s no better way to get into the mood for CREATE than going to the opening night bash.

With a glass of bubbly in your hand, exquisite canapes, and a group of friends it will be so easy to get lost among the artworks.

Set amongst the main exhibition at The Crossing Theatre, three musicians will be performing:

Denis Harvey on the baby grand will set the atmosphere for the night ahead. Denis is a not only a wonderful musician but a big supporter of the region.

Quarralia Knox is a Gomeroi/Kamilaroi woman on her father’s side, and an Arryntre woman on her mother’s side. In the last decade Quarralia has been inspired by genres ranging from musical theatre, pop, Kpop, rap, hip-hop/RnB, and has began infusing the styles into her latest original songs. Quarralia especially prides herself on writing songs about her Aboriginal culture and dreamtime stories and performing them in her Gomeroi language.

Rudely Interrupted is a Melbourne based band which were meant to perform last year but due to COVID-19, they had to cancel. This band is one of Australia’s most unique independent rock acts, touring and releasing their brand of pitch perfect pop-rock anthems across the globe for many years.

This night is going to be a whole lot of fun!

Creative Collage – Deb Michell-Smith

Be inspired, come along for a creative collage workshop and create a FLIGHT-inspired work of art with local artist Deb Michell-Smith at Narrabri Art and Craft Society.

Collage is about recycling and reinterpreting. At this creative collage workshop, you will learn about different collage styles and integrating colour, balance and texture. You will have three hours to create your work, spend time sorting images, creating a great layout, image positioning and finally glueing the works.

Bring along your creativity, meet like-minded people and have an arty day out in Narrabri.

Wee Waa – Local Artist Pavement Showcase

Local Artists are invited to ‘Chalk the Walk’ and create their own masterpieces in chalk.

The artists have one day to create their artworks.

Participants will be mentored by professional artists.

Materials: Each artist will be provided with a starter kit of non-toxic chalk pastels.

Location: Corner of Rose and George Street, Wee Waa.

Date: March 18, 2023.

Time: 10am to 4pm.

Boggabri Chalk Art Workshop

Come and watch these young artists create a 3D chalk artwork.

This workshop is specifically for Year 5 and 6 students at Boggabri and Sacred Heart Primary Schools. The chalk art workshop is designed to inspire, educate and upskill school students.

In this workshop, the facilitator from Zest Events will cover basic perspective techniques and create a 3D chalk artwork. The 3D artwork will be created in the school grounds for all students to enjoy. Students will work with professional artists, take away new skills and experience immersive art first hand.

NarraBRIGHT

This family street party kicks off at 6pm on March 17. This is one of the major celebrations of CREATE 2023.

Now in its third year and with some generous funding from the NSW government, this event has raised the bar and will be a great night out for the young and old.

The evening includes:
• Live music.
• Late night shopping.
• Impressive light projections on a couple of Narrabri’s Maitland Street landmarks.
• Neon installations.
• 3D chalk Art Trail along Maitland Street.
• Children’s activities zones – art workshops, gaming zones.
• Outdoor dining and food stalls.
• Street performers.

Narrabri Community Wellness Garden official launch

It’s time for the Rotary Narrabri Community Wellness Garden to fly. The official launch of this wonderful community attribute will be celebrated on the final weekend of CREATE.

One of the main intentions of this community space is to celebrate inclusiveness, diversity, multiculturalism and wellness.
