Many Narrabri Shire residents were saddened to learn of the death of Sister Clare Keating on Tuesday, March 7 in County Clare, Ireland, after the car which she was driving was involved in a collision with a JCB excavator.
Sr Clare (85) was the principal of St Francis Xavier’s School in Narrabri in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
She was held in high regard by all who knew her and known for her care and kindness.
Sr Clare was a member of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart.
In recent years Sr Clare moved back to Ireland where she undertook pastoral care before retiring last year.
Sr Clare’s funeral took place on Saturday followed by burial in Kilballyowen Cemetery.
A memorial mass is planned for April in Australia. Details are yet to be advised.
