Narrabri’s third annual CREATE Festival kicked off with a grand celebration at The Crossing Theatre.
The facility was packed for last Friday evening’s opening night, with scores of people turning out to enjoy the artwork and entertainment on show. Celebration-goers were mesmerised by the Love is All in the Flutterby Hall display in the main auditorium.
At the start of the proceedings, Pattie Lettice provided the welcome to country.
Council’s manager tourism and cultural services Scott Pollock thanked the artists and sponsors for making the evening possible.
Deputy mayor Darrell Tiemens praised Mr Pollock for his artistic vision, and continued work to bring CREATE to life.
Port of Newcastle representative Stephen Crowe announced the group would make a contribution of $20,000 towards public art in Narrabri.
Earlier in the evening, pianist Denis Harvey entertained celebration-goers.
Following the formalities, guests enjoyed entertainment by Rudely Interrupted and Quarralia Knox.
