ADFAS speaker Alan Read drew in a record crowd of more than a hundred members and visitors to the first arts lecture of the year for arts group ADFAS Narrabri on Monday, March 13.
Attendees were kept amused throughout the talk with Mr Read regaling old London idioms which originated many centuries ago, with theories on how these sayings surfaced and what they mean.
As well as conducting tours at leading UK art galleries including the Tate Britain, Tate Modern, and the National Portrait Gallery, Mr Read is also a City of London Blue Badge guide and a Tower of London guide.
With these attributes under his belt, there was no doubt that the crowd was going to be entertained.
Mr Read is taking part in an ADFAS tour through one of three circuits which stretch from Cairns to Hobart to Perth.
Narrabri is part of one of the circuits, named Hume and comprising of 13 towns, Mudgee, Pokolbin, Scone, Armidale, Tamworth, Narrabri, Sydney, Dubbo, Orange, Blue Mountains, Newcastle, Bowral and Shoalhaven.
