More than 100 golfers descended on the Narrabri Golf Club last week for the annual veterans week of golf.
Local golfer and the 2023 veterans week of golf tournament director Lyn Shearer told The Courier that it was an enjoyable four days at the local club’s pristine 18-hole course.
“It was a really good week,” Shearer said.
“It was good weather, and everyone was really happy.
“We had a presentation at the club on Thursday.
“Everything went really well.
“The course is looking so good at the moment. It’s never looked better. We had lots of positive comments from the travelling golfers.”
Shearer thanked Peter Ward, who she said was a huge help in making the week a success.
There were 102 golfers who played across the week, which included 56 men and 46 ladies. There were about 88 on average playing each day.
Single stableford golf was played from Monday to Wednesday, and there was a 54-hole competition for the three rounds.
Thursday saw the golfers contest a fourball stableford medley.
