Redmans through to mixed pairs decider as 2022 season finally nears an ending

Narrabri Bowling Club’s 2022 season mixed pairs champions and men’s triples champions will finally be crowned this Saturday when the club hosts the two finals.

The John McNamara Owen Campey Green hosted a ladies’ trophy day last Thursday and then a 2022 mixed pairs competition semi-final and social bowls on Saturday.

The winners of Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club trophy day last week were Cecile, Gloria Campey, Ronnie Dewar and Berice Eather.

Cecile played swinging lead with Campey, Dewar and Eather and they won 25-21 against Rhonda Fitzgerald, Janet Coleman and Lyn Tuckey. The overall score was 21 points with 10 points for the win plus 11 ends.

The runners-up on the day were Jan Etheridge, Di Chessells, Marie Redman and Kay Carolan, who beat Trish Allison, Val Falkiner, Carol Demamiel and Lyn Wedesweiler 16-15 with an overall score of 19 points, with 10 points for a win plus nine ends.

Meanwhile, Marie and Tony Redman have won their way into Narrabri Bowling Club’s 2022 season mixed pairs final after defeating Lyn Wedesweiler and Bill Rosewarn 27-14 on Saturday.

The Redmans got off to a great start as they won the first five ends to lead 8-0. Wedesweiler and Rosewarn won the next two ends, but the Redmans went on another run as they won six consecutive ends to lead 19-2 after 13.

Wedesweiler and Rosewarn then outscored the Redmans 12 shots to eight across the final 12 ends, but it was not enough as the Redman duo prevailed 27-14 in 25 ends.

They will now play the winner of the other semi-final between the team of Eva Sadler and Trinity Kelly and the team of Cindy Neil and Ron Ryan, which will be played on Friday night.

There were 14 players who enjoyed playing Russian roulette social bowls on Saturday afternoon.

The winner, who prevailed in all three of her games, was Carol Demamiel with 13 ends won. The runner-up was Ian Macmillan, who won 12 ends, and Trish Allison placed third after winning 11 ends.

The Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s under-five-years competition will commence this Thursday, April 27.

The first fixture will see Janice Foxe take on Carol Demamiel (marker – Ronnie Dewar).

There is a sheet on the board for the ladies’ veteran singles, and ladies’ social bowls will be played on Thursday as well.

Narrabri Bowling Club games to be played this Saturday, April 29, are as follows:

9.30am – final of mixed pairs, which will see Marie and Tony Redman challenge Eva Sadler and Trinity Kelly or Cindy Neil and Ron Ryan.

1.30pm – final of club triples, which will see Ron Ryan, David Field and Cameron Yates meet Col Armstrong, Bill Rosewarn and Len Ryan.
