Local netball sides Fever and Tourist Tornadoes continue to dominate the Narrabri Netball Association A-grade competition in 2023 after they were the form teams of the campaign last year and contested the 2022 decider against one another.
The two teams were both victorious in the third round of the season at the Bev Burrows Courts on Saturday as Fever downed All Nets 37-28 and the Tornadoes scored a 51-10 victory against Fever 2.0.
The win was Fever’s third in as many matches as it became the first team to reach six competition points, while the Tornadoes are second with four points as they sat out with a bye in round two.
The other round three winners, The Flames, are ranked third after they earned their second win of the year by outscoring Hail Mary’s 18-11 on Saturday morning.
Fourth-placed Pharmacy Flamingos sat out with the third-round bye, and Fever 2.0, Hail Mary’s and All Nets finished the weekend ranked fifth to seventh, respectively, following their losses.
The B-grade competition winners in round three were Hairy GOATs, Hot Shots, The Golfie Grubs and Wrecking Ballers.
Hairy GOATS remained in top spot after beating Baxter Babes 40-22, and Hot Shots are still second after they prevailed 31-17 against Firebirds. Those two sides are both undefeated and are leading the way on top with six competition points.
The Golfie Grubs are third on the ladder with four points after their 47-14 victory against Wilga Warriors was their second of the year.
Wrecking Ballers scored their first win of the season when they downed Blue Diamonds 27-10. That win saw them finish the round in fifth place, just behind the fourth-placed Baxter Babes.
Those two teams are both on two competition points, as are the sixth-placed Firebirds and seventh-placed Wilga Warriors. Blue Diamonds are in last place on zero points.
The under-11/12 junior comp round three matches on Saturday were both won comfortably by the two Wee Waa sides.
The second-placed Namoi Cotton Thunderbirds downed Lightning 24-3 and third-placed C and W Firebirds beat Swifts 34-2.
The ladder leaders, the Giants, had the bye in round three as they finished the weekend on four points alongside the two winners.

The second round of the under-9/10 junior competition was contested on Saturday, which saw Swifts edge out Rubies 3-2, and Sapphires defeat the Valley Vixens 11-1.
The Diamonds’ victory was their second on the trot and they sit at the top of the table on four points as the only undefeated team.
