On Wednesday, August 13 the trailer of a medium-sized tipper-truck carrying chicken manure rolled near McDonalds.
The Narrabri Shire Police Inspector Robert Dunn said the vehicle was heading in a northerly direction on the Newell Highway and had just negotiated the right-hand bend, approaching McDonalds on Tibbereena Street, when the trailer toppled and rolled over.
Insp. Dunn said the rest of the truck stayed upright and that the driver of the vehicle wasn’t injured.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Insp. Dunn said the northbound lane was closed for more than an hour while Police worked to clear scene.
“We had to call in resources and get a crane to right the trailer, that assisted in getting off the thoroughfare,” said Insp. Dunn.

The trailers of a B-double truck collided with the Maitland Street rail overpass at 9pm on August 13, said Inspector Robert Dunn of Narrabri Police.
Insp. Dunn said Police were called to the scene and on arrival noticed the vehicle was about 50 metres from the overpass and both the A and B trailers had significant structural damage, as a result of the impact.
He said the driver wasn’t injured in the incident and no other vehicles were involved.
Police contacted the Australian Rail Track Corporation to inspect and clear the railway for use.
The ARTC has now declared the rail safe however, there is structural damage that will require some repair.
“The signs are clear about the height restrictions, it’s believed the B-double was approximately 4.6 metres in height, the signs say 4.4 metres.”
This week, The Courier received reports from Narrabri residents of a ‘huge banging sound’, at the time of the collision.
