It wouldn’t be a Nosh Food and Drink Festival without some friendly competition!

Nosh is pleased to be bringing back the much-endeared festival favourites – the Nosh BBQ cook-off, the Great Australian Cheesecake Competition, and the Australian Regional Homebrew Championships.

Entries are now open for all events! Including the BBQ cook-off where the Nosh committee is seeking applications from community members who would like the opportunity to put their BBQ skills to the ultimate test.

In what could be said to be a MasterChef, meets an average summer weekend barbecue, showing off in front of mates, the Nosh BBQ cook-off separates the novices to the professional tong masters.

Nosh president Kate Kahl said, “in previous years we’ve squared off farmers against farmers, cricketers against footballers, nurses versus paramedics, the list goes on!

“This year, we are opening it up to anyone to express their interest (in teams of two) who think they have what it takes to deliver the winning BBQ dish in under 45 minutes whilst cooking in front of a live Nosh festival crowd.

“The BBQ cook-off never disappoints in terms of the quality of dishes and the quality of characters that keep the audience entertained.”

Nosh organisers are looking for three teams of two. These teams will compete against one another on Saturday, August 26 at the Nosh Food and Drink Festival. All teams will be provided with the same ingredients, with a mystery ingredient being pulled from the Nosh shopping bag that must be used to make the contestants think on their feet.

A panel of mystery judges will be on hand to decide who takes home bragging rights.

Anyone up for the challenge and isn’t shy in front of a crowd is encouraged to apply!

Applications to the BBQ cook-off are open now and can be submitted by following the link on the Cook Off page of the Nosh website www.noshnarrabri.com.au/thecookoff

Applications close at 5pm on Wednesday, August 9.

The Nosh Food and Drink Festival is on Saturday, August 26 from 10.30am to 5pm, on the shared pathway beside the Narrabri Creek. The festival is a free family event.
