Two Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club fours teams travelled to compete in the Namoi District fours finals at Lightning Ridge on Saturday.
The senior team included Carol Demamiel, Marie Redman, Helen Woodward and Di Chessells, who defeated a Lightning Ridge team 27 shots to 11 to advance to the Region playoffs, which will be contested at Lightning Ridge in November.
The opens team was made up of Janice Foxe, Ronnie Dewar, Debbie Gleeson and Lisa Pillar who were defeated by a Lightning Ridge team.
The fours was the final division to be played at district level after singles, pairs and triples were held in August.
Meanwhile, social bowls played at the Narrabri Bowling Club last week on Thursday.
Three matches of three-bowl pairs were played on the day, which saw Dawn Armstrong and Yvonne Hardman beat Doug Mackereth and Di Chessells 25-10, Helen Woodward, and Bruce Tomlinson defeat Janice Foxe and Berice Eather 17-13, and Gloria Campey and Lyn Tuckey down David Briggs and Ronnie Dewar 21-11.
One game of three-bowl triples was contested, as Lyn Wedesweiler played swining lead and with Carol Demamiel and Kay Carolan defeated Trish Allison and Marie Redman 22-7.
Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club will host a trophy day this Thursday, September 14.
The club advised a nomination sheet is on the board for the club fours, with the nominations close on Thursday, September 21, and play to start on Thursday, September 28.
The Narrabri Bowling Club’s men’s season continued on Saturday.
There were two club pairs games played, which saw Dave Dewar and Paul Crutcher beat Ian Macmillan and Laurie Gilbert 25-12, and Kevin Baguley and Trinity Kelly outscore Trevor Dean and Richard Little 28-12.
In club singles, Dave Dewar downed Tony Redman 25-6.
There will be no club games played this weekend due to a ladies’ carnival being played.
