The inaugural WTC Charity Golf Tournament will be held this Saturday, November 4 at Narrabri Golf Club.

The charity event will see 188 golfers tee off as part of the strong field of 47 teams.

Amongst the teams battling it out on the green will be ‘legends of league’ including current NRLW superstars, Hannah Southwell and Tamika Upton as well as former greats of the NRL, Darrell Brohman and David Gillespie.

All four legends will be up for grabs in a Calcutta auction prior to tee off.

Maximum amount of team registrations for the charity event were sold out before the registration cut-off date.

WTC managing director, Will Childs is pleased with the support shown by the community so far.

“We are thrilled to have capacity teams hitting the course to support our inaugural charity golf tournament,” he said.

“What started as an idea for how WTC could expand on giving back to the community has turned into a family friendly event where we hope to see just as many people in the clubhouse on the day soaking up the atmosphere as there will be on the course.

“We’ve got those not playing golf covered.

There will be a jumping castle for the kids, music entertainment all afternoon and into the evening, raffles, and the opportunity to meet the ‘legends of league’ after the tournament.

“There will be a live auction after the presentation from around 6.00pm with some awesome items up for grabs including signed sporting memorabilia, a helicopter ride thanks to North West Helicopters, Port Stephens golfing getaway for four people, a WTC Group Civil earthworks package, a John Deere 1.8t excavator and trailer thanks to RDO Equipment (pending no one hits a hole in one).

“We have received overwhelming support from the local business community and our valued industry suppliers who have dug deep to sponsor, provide prizes, or give their time as well as the individuals who have put together teams to play a round of golf with us.

“We are grateful and humbled by the support we have received so far.

Proceeds from the event will go towards TIACS (This is a Conversation Starter) who provide an essential and free mental health phone and text counselling service to Australia’s blue collar working community as well as donations being made to local community organisations.

“WTC are passionate about supporting mental health initiatives and the wider community and our inaugural charity golf tournament is another fun way of raising awareness and funds for worthy community causes,” Mr Childs said.

The event will commence with teams arriving at the Narrabri Golf Club at 9am before the Calcutta to enjoy their included breakfast that will be cooked by the Narrabri Lions Club.

Supporters and the community are welcome any time during the day and are invited to stay into the evening for the auction and entertainment.
