Police arrested a 30-year-old man for firearm offences after executing a warrant at a property in Pilliga on Tuesday.
Officers from Oxley Police District were joined by the Western Region Rural Crime Prevention Team as part of Operation Yowie.
Operation Yowie is a Western Regional Rural Crime Prevention Team initiative targeted at rural crime including firearms offences.
On Tuesday, after police entered the Pilliga premises a man was seen running from the property.
Police allege the man was carrying a firearm at the time.
The man was apprehended a short distance from the property and was conveyed to Wee Waa Police Station.
A search of the property also located ammunition.
The man was charged with two counts of acquire firearm – subject to prohibition order.
Bail was refused and the man was due to face court on Wednesday.
A further two searches – one in Pilliga and another in Gwabegar – were conducted as part of Operation Yowie.
Police are investigating items located at the premises.
All matters were subject to firearms prohibition orders.
