NSW Education’s ‘The Arts Unit’ staged a Bandlink three-day musical education assembly featuring 74 participants from local schools across the district.
The much lauded event has been staged in Narrabri for the past 26 years, and was held at The Crossing Theatre from December 4-6, culminating in a magnificent concert held on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bandlink initiative involves workshops consisting of large concert band and smaller tutorial sessions, bringing specialised skills to country NSW students.
It is led by professional tutors and experienced conductors.
Bandlink caters for concert band instrumentalists from Years 4 to 12 of all levels (along with bass guitarists who read notation, from beginners to advanced.
Students simply bring along a musical Instrument and respective care kits, which can include spare reeds, strings and valve oils, and the rest is taken care of by the tutors, who are experts in their fields.
Performing in Wednesday afternoon’s concert were students from Narrabri High School, Narrabri Public School, Narrabri West Public School, Coonabarabran High School, Oxley High School, Quirindi High School, Ellerston Public School, St Mary’s Gunnedah and St Xavier’s Primary Narrabri.
