Recently appointed principal of Narrabri Public School, Mrs Claire Allen, is looking forward to her role at an exciting time of innovation in education.

Mrs Allen took over as principal on April 29, having been assistant principal since 2015 and relieving principal since 2023.

“Narrabri Public School has a wonderful school culture. It’s an amazing place to be,” Mrs Allen said.

The foundations of education and the school culture had been consolidated by her predecessor, former principal, Mrs Marion Tame.

Mrs Tame had been a member of the teaching staff since 1987 and principal since 2015.

“Marion taught across generations of Narrabri children,” Mrs Allen said.

“She had a huge impact on education with her innovation and forward thinking and she laid the foundation for a very progressive school.”

Mrs Allen said Narrabri Public School’s culture was supported by a very qualified, committed and passionate staff.

“I’m looking forward to playing my part in continuing to grow the school,” she said.

“We are seeing education change quite quickly and this provides the opportunity to be innovative and have our students educated in a holistic manner.”

Narrabri Public School has a student population of 250, supported by a teaching staff of 27 and a total staff complement of 50.

The school is successfully continuing to regroup and grow in the aftermath of COVID.

Mrs Allen has been a member of the teaching staff at NPS since moving to Narrabri from the Central Coast with her husband, James, and their three boys, now adult sons, Tyler, Sean, and Noah.

An appointment in the district mining industry brought the Allens to Narrabri with an opportunity for employment at Boggabri Coal for Mr Allen coinciding with the offer of a classroom teacher position at Narrabri Public School for Mrs Allen in June 2011.

“We love living in Narrabri and being part of this amazing school.”
