Narrabri Shire Council’s director of infrastructure delivery, Eloise Chaplain has been appointed as the interim general manager of council.

The interim appointment, which follows the resignation of Rob Williams, was announced following an extraordinary meeting of council last week.

The matter was discussed by shire councillors in a closed session of council.

Councillors voted unanimously on the appointment, council announced on Friday.

In a statement, council said Mrs Chaplain brings a wealth of expertise to the role with tertiary qualifications in both engineering and finance.

“In their unanimous decision, councillors emphasised the importance of maintaining the cultural and performance momentum achieved over the past two years – with the decision to appoint an internal candidate reflecting the considerable progress made by the senior management team, who have worked diligently to realise these improvements,” the statement read.

The interim role will start on August 16 and continue until no later than August 15, 2025.
