We thought they’d be here forever
As they’ve been around so long
Three generations in control
But it’s time now to move on.
We know they’ll be missed in the town
Now the reins are changing hands
The new owners will be welcome
As they’ll carry on as planned.
So it’s best that we support them
Make them welcome in the town
And be thankful that our paper will
for the future, be around.
The staff, I hear will be the same
So the paper will still run
They work away behind the scenes
To see everything gets done
Why I doubt we’ll even notice
That new owners are in place
Till we step into the office
Or we meet them face to face.
So it’s farewell to the Dunnets
And the Slack-Smiths welcome now
There’ll be a new horse in the lead
But the same hands on the plough.
