Monday’s Narrabri Shire observance of Remembrance Day, the national commemoration to honour the men and women who served and died for our country in wars and conflicts, again drew active involvement from Narrabri students.
The engagement of many young people with the service drew applause from the crowd and was acknowledged by Narrabri RSL Sub-branch president Nicole Gallagher, who presided over the morning’s proceedings.
The crowd at the Narrabri ceremony heard thoughtful presentations on the importance of remembrance by school representatives from Narrabri High School and Narrabri Public School.
Narrabri High School’s incoming captains for 2025, Blake Christian and Poppy Fuller, and Narrabri Public School captains Ryan Anderson and Chloe Cameron gave confident, well-researched and sincere presentations in their addresses to the audience.
St Francis Xavier’s and Narrabri West schools were represented by captains Isabel Campbell and Angus Irwin and Blair Lennox and Mikaela Whan.
Participation by young people in the moving Remembrance Day ceremony, traditionally held at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marking the end of the First World War, was underlined by the participation of an honour guard of Army cadets Leondre Smith, Rodney Gibbs-Eulo and Callum Lawler from Narrabri.
